See you later

I'm going to the Lake District in a few hours, but I feel I owe you a post. So here's another little slice of my mid-adopter lifestyle.

If you've been reading Questionable Content and now feel indie but don't have the music to back it up, then slide on down to Tracks Up the Tree, which is a podcast I've been listening to and enjoying a lot. it is, as the kids would put it, "teh cool".

Podcasts are like radio, but not live. That's about all there is to it: they're the radio equivalent of samizdat novellas. In point of fact, BBC radio is one of the big names in podcasting at this early stage. The cool thing, though, is that anyone with a £5 microphone and a mid to low level of geekery can produce one. It's very, how do you say? Democratique.

Now this is why I'm a mid-adopter: I started downloading podcasts just before Apple announced that the version of iTunes that's since released would be able to speak Podcast natively. I did the same thing with Safari, the current Mac browser: I was in the open beta just before they wanted to actually announce it finished. I'm on the edge, dude.

I'll be the scarf around your neck
