Zeitgeist

Sometimes events in the world make me shake my head. I'm not remarking on this story to say I'm right, they're wrong because truly and honestly I can only categorise this as something that's completely beyond my ken.

I hate the fact that about five hundred people are being held without access to lawyers, family or news of the outside world- hell, most haven't even been charged. I'm talking, of course, about the U.S's "Camp X-Ray" at Guantanamo bay. The situation is a filthy one, no matter if it's true or not that inmates are being tortured.

I can swallow the bitter idea that it might not be viable to rap the knuckles of America on this topic. However, it seems some things do outweigh the diplomatic repercussions- some things are more important than the desecration of human beings.

I just can't see it.
