Hack Update

So I've had at the code: here's what I think I've done.

  • The Archive sidebar is now a drop-down menu, rather than a half-mile list.

  • Archive pages themselves used to be even more absurdly long, as they contained the full text of every post made that month. Now, they're just lists of links to pages holding individual posts. These are stable i.e. if you make a link to it this week, it'll still be there next week when I've posted something new on the main page.

  • You can still click the word 'link' at the bottom of the current post to get to it's stable location, but for now I've taken away the "Send this post" feature. I don't think it's that useful, and in trying to make it do what I think it should, I got to visit some of Blogger's more exotic error pages. So I just deleted it. Problem solved.

  • At the bottom of every page there should be a drop-down menu with the most recent previous posts.

There are still a few things I want to do- for example, you should be able to select 'next post' on item pages, and I'd prefer it if the archive menu was arranged with the more recent months at the top, rather than the bottom.

For now, though, I'm having what you might call a 'test' period. I've got the "old faithful" template on my hard drive, so this is what I want you do: If things look weird on the site, email me and tell me so. And if you know me, expect me to start conducting test viewings on MSN and yahoo soon.

You know what? it's things like this that mean I'm only halfway through the relativistic momentum questions.
